Water

Read a short passage about how the simplest drink became essential for life and well-being.

1.1

Water is a drink that we need every day. It is clear and tastes like nothing. But water is super important for our bodies to work well. We drink water to quench our thirst and to keep us healthy.

1.2

People have been drinking water since ancient times. In the old days, they drank water from rivers and wells. They knew water was good for them, even though they did not understand why.

1.3

Nowadays, we can get water from many places. We can drink it from the tap in our homes, or we can buy bottles of water from stores. Some people add flavors to their water, like lemon or strawberry, to make it taste better.

Water
1.4

Drinking water has many benefits. It helps us stay hydrated, which means it keeps our bodies from getting too dry. When we are hydrated, we feel better and have more energy. Water also helps our bodies get rid of waste and toxins.

1.5

Sometimes, we drink other things instead of water, like juice or soda. These drinks can be tasty, but they often have lots of sugar and other things that are not good for us. Water is the healthiest choice because it has no sugar or calories.

1.6

It is important to drink enough water every day. Doctors say we should drink about 8 cups of water, but it can be different for everyone. We should listen to our bodies and drink when we are thirsty.

1.7

Fun fact : Did you know that water makes up about 60% of our bodies? That is more than half!
