Backgammon is one of the oldest board games, played between two players on a board divided into 24 triangular spaces called points. Each player has 15 checkers, and the goal is to move them around the board according to the roll of two dice, ultimately getting all checkers into their home board and then removing them from the board. Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their checkers, with the option to "hit" an opponent's checker if it is alone on a point. The game combines elements of luck and strategy, and the first player to remove all their checkers wins.

Checkers is a two-player board game played on a square 8x8 board, alternating between light and dark colors. Each player starts with 12 pieces, usually placed on the dark squares of the three rows closest to them. The goal is to capture all of the opponent's pieces or block them so they cannot make a move. Players take turns moving their pieces diagonally, and when a piece lands on an opponent's piece, it captures it and removes it from the board. If a piece reaches the farthest row from the player, it is "kinged" and can move both forward and backward. The game ends when one player has no moves left or loses all their pieces.

Chinese checkers is a board game played on a star-shaped board with 121 spaces. The game is for two to six players, and each player starts with 10 pieces placed in one of the six points of the star, which are colored differently for each player. The goal is to move all of one’s pieces from the starting point to the opposite side of the board. Players take turns moving their pieces across the board by either moving one space or jumping over other pieces, either their own or an opponent’s, to land on an empty space. The game ends when a player successfully moves all their pieces to the opposite point.

Chutes and Ladders is a simple board game for children, where players move along a numbered grid, trying to reach the final square. The game uses dice to determine how many spaces a player moves on each turn. The board has ladders and chutes; if a player lands on a ladder, they climb up to a higher numbered space, while landing on a chute sends them sliding down to a lower numbered space. Rummikub is a tile-based game played by two to four players. The game uses 106 numbered tiles in four colors, and each player starts with a set of 14 tiles. The goal is to form runs, which are sequences of three or more consecutive numbers in the same color, or sets of three or four tiles with the same number but different colors. Players take turns placing tiles on the table, either by adding to existing sets and runs or by creating new ones. Rummikub involves strategy, as players must think ahead and adjust to the tiles drawn, aiming to be the first to use all their tiles and declare "Rummikub."

Bendomino is a variation of the classic dominoes game that adds a unique twist. In this version, the tiles are curved, not rectangular, which changes how they can be placed on the board. The game is played with the same basic rules as traditional dominoes, where players match tiles with the same number of dots on the ends. The curved shape of the tiles requires players to adjust their strategy, as they can now place pieces in different angles, offering new ways to block opponents or form sets. The goal remains to be the first to play all tiles, or to have the fewest remaining tiles when no one can make a legal move.

Triominoes is a tile-based game that is similar to dominoes but played with triangular-shaped tiles. The game is typically played by 2 to 6 players, and each player starts with a set of tiles that are numbered on the three corners. The goal is to match tiles based on the numbers at the corners, forming a network of tiles on the table. Players take turns placing their tiles to extend the network, and the game continues until one player has placed all their tiles or no one can make a legal move. Points are scored for each tile placed, and the winner is the player with the highest score. The game requires strategy and planning to manage the available tiles and block opponents.

Chicken foot is a variation of dominoes played with a special set of tiles. The game is usually played by 2 to 8 players, and the goal is to be the first to get rid of all your tiles. The game starts with a double tile placed in the center, and players take turns adding matching tiles to the open ends of the domino chain. The unique rule in chicken foot is that when a double is played, it forms a "chicken foot," with three tiles placed around it, creating a branching structure. Players must continue to build off these branches, and if they cannot make a move, they draw a tile. The game ends when one player runs out of tiles or when no more moves can be made.

The block domino game is a simple version of the classic dominoes game, typically played by two to four players. The game starts with each player drawing a set of tiles, and the goal is to be the first to play all tiles. The game begins with a double tile placed in the center, and players take turns adding tiles to the board, matching numbers on the open ends of the domino chain. In the block domino game, players cannot draw new tiles from the pile if they cannot make a move, so the game relies on strategy to manage the tiles already in hand. The game ends when one player places all tiles, or when no player can make a move. The winner is the player who finishes first or has the fewest tiles left when the game ends.

Mexican train is a popular domino game that is typically played by 2 to 8 players. The game is played with a set of double-12 dominoes, and each player starts by placing a tile on a central "train" that is shared by all players. Players take turns adding tiles to their own train or to the central train, matching the numbers on the ends of the dominoes. The objective is to be the first to play all of your tiles. One unique aspect of the game is the "Mexican train," a separate train that any player can add tiles to if they cannot play on their own. The game ends when a player runs out of tiles or no one can make a legal move, with the winner being the one with the fewest remaining tiles.

Go is a two-player strategy board game that originated in ancient China and is played on a square grid, usually 19x19, although smaller boards like 9x9 or 13x13 can also be used. Players take turns placing black or white stones on the intersections of the grid. The objective is to claim more territory than the opponent by surrounding empty areas of the board and capturing the opponent's stones by completely enclosing them. The game ends when both players agree that no more moves can improve their positions, and the player with the most territory, including captured stones, wins. Go is known for its simple rules but deep strategic complexity.

Mastermind is a two-player code-breaking game where one player creates a hidden code, and the other tries to guess it. The code is made using a row of colored pegs, and the guessing player has a limited number of turns to figure it out. After each guess, the code-maker provides feedback using smaller pegs: one color indicates correct colors in the correct positions, and another shows correct colors in the wrong positions. The guessing player uses this feedback to refine their guesses. The game ends when the code is cracked or the guesses run out.

Stratego is a two-player strategy board game where each player controls an army of pieces with varying ranks and abilities, aiming to capture the opponent’s flag while defending their own. The board is a 10x10 grid, and players initially set up their pieces in secret, placing them in their half of the board. Pieces include ranks like scouts, soldiers, and bombs, each with specific movement and combat rules. Players take turns moving their pieces one space, and battles occur when one piece attacks another, with the higher-ranked piece winning, except bombs, which can eliminate most pieces. The game combines strategy, bluffing, and memory, as players must carefully plan attacks and defenses while uncovering the opponent’s setup.

Senet is an ancient Egyptian board game that is considered one of the earliest known board games in history, dating back to around 3100 BCE. The game is played on a rectangular board with 30 squares arranged in three rows of ten. Two players compete by moving their pieces across the board, guided by the throw of sticks or dice, which determine the number of spaces a piece can move. The objective is to move all one’s pieces off the board before the opponent. Special squares on the board affect movement, adding an element of strategy. Senet was believed to have spiritual significance, symbolizing the journey of the soul through the afterlife, in addition to being a competitive game.
