A roadway is the section of a road where vehicles move, typically made of asphalt or concrete for durability and smooth travel. It can have one or more lanes, often marked to guide traffic, and may include barriers or dividers to separate directions of travel. Roadways are designed to support different types of vehicles, from cars to large trucks, and can vary in size and structure depending on their location and purpose, such as highways for fast travel or smaller streets for local traffic.

A path is a track or way that forms naturally over time as people repeatedly walk over the same area. It may start as a small trail that becomes more defined and visible from constant use. Paths are often found in parks, forests, or rural areas, where they are created by foot traffic as people travel along the same route. These paths may not be formally constructed but are shaped by the movement of individuals who pass over the ground consistently.

A private road is a road that is owned and maintained by an individual or a group, rather than by the government. Access to a private road is usually restricted to the owner and authorized people, such as residents or guests. These roads are not typically open to the general public and may be found in residential areas, private estates, or businesses. Maintenance and repairs of private roads are the responsibility of the owner or the group that manages them.

A musical road is a road designed with special grooves or ridges that make sounds when a vehicle drives over them at a certain speed. The grooves are placed in such a way that they create a melody or rhythm, encouraging drivers to maintain a specific speed. These roads are often used to promote safety by helping drivers stay within speed limits while also providing an unusual and fun experience. The sound produced is similar to music or a tune, which is created by the vibrations caused by the vehicle's tires.

A stroad is a type of road that combines features of both streets and highways. It is meant to handle high-speed traffic while also accommodating local access, such as driveways and intersections. However, it often fails to do either job well. While it allows vehicles to move quickly, the frequent stops and turns disrupt traffic flow. At the same time, it is not very pedestrian- or cyclist-friendly, lacking the proper infrastructure for walking or biking. As a result, a stroad tends to be inefficient for both cars and people.

A drawbridge is a type of movable bridge that can be raised or lowered to allow boats and ships to pass underneath. This design typically features a section of the bridge that rotates or lifts, creating a gap for water traffic. Drawbridges are often found in areas where there is a need to accommodate both road and water traffic, such as rivers or canals. When a drawbridge is raised, it allows vessels to navigate through, and once the water traffic has passed, the bridge can be lowered back into position for vehicles and pedestrians. This type of bridge is known for its flexibility and usefulness in managing different types of transportation.

A bascule bridge is a type of movable bridge with a section that can be raised or lowered to allow boats and ships to pass underneath. It usually has a weight system that helps lift the movable part of the bridge when needed. When lowered, the bridge forms a solid connection for vehicles and pedestrians to cross. This type of bridge is often found in places with heavy boat traffic, such as near harbors or along rivers, where a fixed bridge would block navigation.

A flyover is a bridge or elevated road built to allow vehicles to pass over other roads or intersections without stopping. It is typically used to avoid traffic congestion and provide a smoother flow of traffic. Flyovers are commonly found in busy areas or near major highways, where they help reduce delays and improve safety by separating different levels of traffic.

A viaduct is a type of bridge that consists of a series of spans or arches, typically used to carry a road or railway over a valley, river, or other obstacles. It is designed to maintain a high level of elevation and often features multiple supports, allowing it to traverse long distances. Viaducts are commonly made of concrete, stone, or steel and can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, contributing to the overall landscape. They are essential in transportation networks, providing a reliable route for vehicles and trains while minimizing disruption to the natural terrain below.

A corniche is a type of road or pathway that is built along the edge of a cliff, hill, or coastal area, offering views of the surrounding landscape, such as the sea, valley, or mountain. These roads are typically constructed along steep terrain, with one side of the path bordering a drop or a body of water, creating a dramatic and beautiful route. Corniches are often used for leisurely driving, walking, or cycling, as they provide not only a practical way to navigate difficult terrain but also an opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views.

A tunnel is an underground passage that is typically built for transportation, such as roads, trains, or utilities. It can also be used for water flow or as a way to bypass natural obstacles like mountains or rivers. Tunnels are usually dug or drilled through the earth or rock, and they can vary in length, width, and purpose. They are often lined with concrete or steel to prevent collapse. Tunnels are an essential part of infrastructure, providing safe and efficient routes for people and goods. Some tunnels are open to the public, while others are used only for specific purposes, like mining or utilities.

A railroad is a track made of steel rails that trains run on. These rails are placed on wooden or concrete beams, which are spaced out along the track to support the weight of the trains and keep the rails in place. Railroads are designed to guide trains along specific routes, connecting different locations for transportation.

A tramline is a track specifically designed for trams or streetcars, which are vehicles that travel on rails, typically within urban or city areas. These tracks are usually laid in the street or along designated pathways, enabling the trams to follow certain routes. Tramlines are an essential part of public transportation systems, providing an efficient and reliable way for people to move around short distances within cities or towns, often connecting neighborhoods, commercial areas, and other key locations.

A branch is a smaller road or path that splits off from a main road or trail. It typically serves as a secondary route and may lead to a less traveled or less important location. Branches can be found in both rural and urban areas, offering access to neighborhoods, small towns, or specific destinations. While not as frequently used as the main roads, branches play an important role in providing alternative routes and connecting different areas.

A turnpike is a toll road or highway where drivers must pay a fee to use it. These roads are often major routes that connect cities or regions and are designed for long-distance travel. The tolls collected are typically used to maintain or improve the road. Turnpikes can be found in many countries and are often a more direct and faster way to travel compared to other roads. They are named "turnpikes" because historically, a wooden pole or barrier, called a "pike", was used to block traffic until the toll was paid.

A feeder refers to a smaller channel or stream that directs water into a larger body of water, such as a river, lake, or reservoir. It helps supply water to areas that need it by connecting to larger systems. Feeders are essential for maintaining water levels in the primary channels and for ensuring a continuous flow. These smaller channels often come from nearby sources, like springs, and feed into bigger systems to support agriculture, industry, or drinking water needs.
