Leonardo da Vinci

Read a short story of an artist who created some of the most famous artworks in history.

1.1

Leonardo da Vinci was a famous artist and inventor. He was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo was very curious and smart from a young age. He loved to learn about the world.

1.2

Leonardo moved to Florence when he was a teenager. There, he learned how to paint and draw. He became a very good artist. People noticed his talent and he got many jobs that were painting pictures.

One of Leonardo’s most famous paintings is the "Mona Lisa." Another famous work is "The Last Supper." These paintings are very famous around the world. People love them because they are so beautiful.

1.4

Leonardo loved painting but he was also interested in how things work. He studied the human body, animals, and nature. He made many drawings of what he learned. His notebooks are full of these drawings.

1.5

Leonardo also liked to invent things. He drew designs for machines like helicopters and bicycles long time before they were really made. He never built his inventions, but his ideas were very advanced for his time.

1.6

Leonardo spent his last years in France. The king of France invited him there. The king really liked Leonardo's works. Leonardo died on May 2, 1519, in Amboise, France. He was 67 years old.

Fun fact : Leonardo da Vinci could write with one hand and draw with the other hand at the same time. This is very hard to do. This skill shows how talented and special he was.
