Sushi is a popular dish from Japan. It is made with rice and fish. People around the world enjoy sushi. There are many types of sushi. Each type has different ingredients and taste.
To make sushi, chefs use a special type of rice called "sushi rice." This rice is sticky. It helps the sushi stay together. Chefs also use raw fish, vegetables, and seaweed in sushi. Seaweed is a type of sea plant. It is green and it wraps around the rice and fish.
One common type of sushi is called "nigiri." Nigiri is a small ball of rice that has a slice of fish on top of it. Another type is "maki." Maki is sushi that is rolled. It looks like a green roll with rice and fish inside. There is also "sashimi." Sashimi is just slices of raw fish without rice.
People eat sushi in different ways. In Japan, it is common to eat sushi with chopsticks. Some people also use their hands. People often add soy sauce when they are eating sushi. They might also add wasabi. Wasabi is a green paste that is very spicy.
Sushi is not only tasty but also healthy. It has a lot of protein from the fish. It also has vitamins from the vegetables. Many people like sushi because it is good for their health.
Sushi restaurants are all over the world. In these restaurants, they often make sushi in front of the customers. This is fun to watch. Chefs show their skills in making sushi quickly and beautifully.
Fun fact : In Japan, people eat a special sushi called "Ehomaki" in February. They eat it in silence while looking at the year's "lucky direction." They believe that this direction will bring good luck. The direction changes every year.
