1.1

The Great Pyramid of Giza is a very famous landmark. It is in Egypt, close to Cairo. The pyramid was built over 4,500 years ago for an Egyptian king named Pharaoh Khufu.

1.2

The pyramid is very big and tall. When people first made it, it was 146 meters high. Now, it is a bit shorter, about 139 meters, because some stones are missing. The bottom of the pyramid is very wide. It covers almost 53,000 square meters.

1.3

Building the Great Pyramid was a big job. It is made from millions of heavy stones. Each stone weighs about 2,500 kilograms. People think it took about 20 years to build. The workers used simple tools, not machines like we have now.

1.4

Inside the pyramid, there are three main rooms. The largest room was for the king's tomb. The other rooms held things the king might need after death. There are also long hallways that connect these rooms.

1.5

Many people visit the Great Pyramid every year. It is very old but still looks good. It is special because it is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that is still standing.

1.6

People keep studying the pyramid. They use new technology to find out how it was built and what is inside. They discover new things about it often.

1.7

Fun fact : The Great Pyramid was the tallest building in the world for more than 3,800 years. No other building was taller until the 1800s.
