The Great Pyramid of Giza is a very famous landmark. It is in Egypt, close to Cairo. The pyramid was built over 4,500 years ago for an Egyptian king named Pharaoh Khufu.

1.2

The pyramid is very big and tall. When people first made it, it was 146 meters high. Now, it is a bit shorter, about 139 meters, because some stones are missing. The bottom of the pyramid is very wide. It covers almost 53,000 square meters.

1.3

Building the Great Pyramid was a big job. It is made from millions of heavy stones. Each stone weighs about 2,500 kilograms. People think it took about 20 years to build. The workers used simple tools, not machines like we have now.
