Empire State Building

Read a short passage about a tall skyscraper in New York City that was once the tallest in the world.

The Empire State Building is a very famous building in New York City, USA. It is very tall and important. Many people visit it every year.

1.2

The Empire State Building was finished in 1931. It was the tallest building in the world at that time. It has 102 floors and is 443 meters tall, including its antenna.

The building is made of steel and stone. It is very strong and beautiful. The outside of the building has many details and looks very nice. The design is called Art Deco, which was popular in the 1930s.

Inside the Empire State Building, there are many offices. Many people work there. There are also places for visitors to see. The most popular place is the viewing area. It is on the 86th floor. From there, people can see all of New York City. On clear days, you can see very far.

The Empire State Building is also famous because it has been in many movies. One of the most famous movies is "King Kong." In the movie, a giant ape climbs to the top of the building. Many people remember this scene.

The building is lit up with different colors at night. These colors change for holidays and special events. For example, on the Fourth of July, the lights are red, white, and blue.

Fun fact : It was built very quickly. It only took about one year to finish. This was very fast for such a big building. Today, it is still one of the tallest buildings in the world and a symbol of New York City.
