What Are Interrogative Adverbs in French?
Interrogative adverbs (Les adverbes interrogatifs) are used to ask questions about time, place, manner, quantity, and reason. Unlike interrogative pronouns (qui, que), they do not replace a noun — they modify the verb.

Où (Where)
It is used to ask about location or destination.

When are you arriving?
Combien (How much / many)
It is used for quantity. For example:

How much does it cost?
Vous en voulez combien ?
How many do you want?
It can appear as combien de + noun. For example:
Combien de livres as-tu ?
How many books do you have?
Combien de temps dure le film ?
How long does the movie last?
Warning!
Always use combien de, not combien des. They are invariable: no plural, no feminine changes.

Pourquoi (Why)
It is used to ask about reason or cause. For example:
