Beer is a favorite drink for many people around the world.  It is made from water, barley, hops, and yeast.  These ingredients are mixed and left to sit for a while.  This process makes alcohol and gives beer its special flavor. 

Ang beer ay isang paboritong inumin para sa maraming tao sa buong mundo. Ito ay gawa sa tubig, barley, hops, at yeast. Ang mga sangkap na ito ay hinalo at hinayaang umupo nang sandali. Ang prosesong ito ay gumagawa ng alkohol at nagbibigay sa beer ng espesyal na lasa nito.

The story of beer started a very long time ago.  Early people in a place called Mesopotamia, which is now called Iraq, made a simple type of beer.  They did not have the tools we have today, but they knew how to make beer from grains.  Over many years, the skill of making beer spread to different cultures.

In the Middle Ages in Europe, beer was very common.  Monasteries, where religious men called monks lived, were important for beer making.  Monks made beer not just for themselves but also for visitors and to sell to others.

A long time ago, beer was often safer to drink than water.  This is because making beer kills bad germs in the water.  Everyone, including children, drank beer every day.  It was a normal part of what they ate.
