A sofa is something people sit on in their home.  You usually find it in the living room.  Sofas are soft and comfortable.  People sit or lie on them to rest. 

Un canapé est un meuble sur lequel les gens s'assoient chez eux. On le trouve généralement dans le salon. Les canapés sont moelleux et confortables. Les gens s'assoient ou s'allongent dessus pour se reposer.

Sofas can be big or small.  A big sofa can fit three or four people.  A small sofa fits one or two people.  Sofas can be many colors, like red, blue, or brown. 

Les canapés peuvent être grands ou petits. Un grand canapé peut accueillir trois ou quatre personnes. Un petit canapé peut accueillir une ou deux personnes. Les canapés peuvent être de nombreuses couleurs, comme le rouge, le bleu ou le marron.

The outside of a sofa can be cloth or leather.  Inside, sofas are soft, so it is nice to sit or lie on them.  Some sofas have pillows.  Pillows make the sofa more comfortable.

People use sofas in many ways.  You can sit on a sofa to watch TV, read, or talk with family.  You can also lie down on a sofa to rest or take a nap.  Some sofas can open and become a small bed.  These are called sofa beds.
