Що таке Pluralia tantum?
Pluralia tantum не мають форми однини і завжди використовуються у формі множини. Ось кілька прикладів:
pants → штани
shoes → взуття
scissors → ножиці
glasses → окуляри
shorts → шорти
clothes → одяг
thanks → подяка
Такі іменники не можна безпосередньо рахувати або використовувати з числами. Натомість використовуються слова на зразок «pair of» або «set of», щоб зробити іменники підраховуваними. Подивіться на приклади:
