"Search" vs. "Research" in English

What Is Their Main Difference?

Both refer to attempting to find something. However, 'searching' takes less time, and it is not based on any particular forms. No one supervises it and it aims at finding something. 'Researching', contrariwise, is comprised of different stages like making a deduction, gathering information, analyzing the data, etc. One must be qualified enough to conduct 'research' and it has its own methodology. 'Searching' is part' of doing a 'research'.

Differences

As sated above, 'searching' is about finding an answer, a solution, etc. and it takes less time than conducting 'research'. One does not need to be qualified to do it. Also, remember that is not have a special metholodogy to it. Check out the examples below:

'Researching' is a structured way of gathering information and therefore drawing several verified conclusions based on the data. It is comprised of different stages like 'gathering information', 'deduction', 'analyzing the data', etc. Usually, there is a supervisor to oversee the whole process of conducting 'research'. Although they are both related to looing up and finding something, they can never be used interchangeably because 'searching' can be done by anyone, whereas, 'reseaching' requires special techniques. Compare:
