Qu'est-ce que les articles ?
Les articles sont de petits mots qui précèdent un nom et le définissent comme spécifique ou général.
Articles en anglais
En anglais, il existe deux types d'articles : « the » est appelé l'article défini et « a/an » sont appelés les articles indéfinis.
article défini → the
article indéfini → a/an
Articles indéfinis
« A » et « an » sont appelés les articles indéfinis. Ils sont utilisés avec des noms au singulier pour se référer à n'importe quel nom général de ce type.
La différence entre « a » et « an » est que « a » est utilisé avant un son consonne et « an » est utilisé avant un son voyelle (a, e, i, o, u) :

Article défini
« The » est un article défini. Il peut être utilisé avant un nom au singulier ou au pluriel pour se référer à un nom spécifique ou particulier connu à la fois du locuteur et de l'auditeur. Regardez les exemples :
I ordered a pizza and a salad. The pizza was nice but the salad was disgusting.
J'ai commandé une pizza et une salade. La pizza était bonne mais la salade était dégoûtante.
That is the school that Mary went to.
C'est l'école où Mary est allée.
Mary has a dog. The dog's name is Rover.
