Media vs. Medium

Ladies and gentlemen, this time we're gonna talk about the differences and similarities between 'media' and 'medium'. Are you ready?

What Is Their Main Difference?

Interestingly, both were related in that 'media' was the plural form of 'medium' in the past. They both are means of communication. However, 'media' has changed in the course of history and refers to all means of mass communication nowadays. It includes the internet, books, banners, arts, etc. 'Medium', on the other hand, refers to something of average size or quality, we use 'medium'.

Differences

As mentioned above, 'media' had a different definition in the past. It was the plural form of 'medium'. It refers to the different forms of mass communication like publishing, the internet, newspapers, magazines, etc. Note that is a plural noun and does not have a singular form. If we want to refer to a way of communicating with another community, they can be used interchangeably, but not otherwise. Compare:
