Dear guests,we have decided to teach you all there is about the differences and similarities between these two words. Wanna come with us?

"Restructuring" vs. "Reorganization" in English

What Is Their Main Difference?

Both refer to making changes to something. However, 'restructuring' indicates changing the structure of something completely. It is based on long-term goals. Basic and essential changes are made to the whole structure of something, whereas, 'reorganization' refers to small but important changes to something with the goal of improvement.

Differences

As stated above, 'restructure' points out changing something completely. It mainly deals with the foundation of a business. Its goal is to make the business more organized and systematic. Look at the examples below:

The manager decided to restructure the whole plan.

In order to restructure the firm, the management decided to hire more recruits.

'Reorganizing' refers to making small but important changes to a business, a system, etc. These small changes are for improvement. When a business is being 'reorganized', it does not include hiring recruits. Check out the examples below:

Guys, instead of arguing, I suggest we reorganize the documents.

You know, I thought reorganizing the plan would be useful.

Similarities

As mentioned above, both refer to applying changes to a particular business, plan, etc. Take a look at the following examples:

But we've worked on this project for years, how can we restructure the whole thing?

In order to reorganize it, we suggest you trust us and agree to our terms and conditions.

Are They Interchangeable?

Although they both refer to making changes to something, they cannot be used interchangeably because 'reorganize' refers to making small changes to something, whereas, 'restructure' deals with completely changing th whole thing. Compare:

✓ The company decided to reorganize the plan.

✓ The company decided to reorganize the plan.

As you can see, both examples are correct but they have different meanings.
