¿Qué son los demostrativos?
Los demostrativos son palabras que se usan para señalar o indicar personas, objetos o lugares específicos en relación con el hablante o el oyente. Su forma cambia según la distancia respecto al hablante.
Uso de "this" y "these" (cerca)
this → sustantivo singular
these → sustantivo plural
This bag is not mine.
Esta bolsa no es mía.
These books are torn to pieces.
Estos libros están destrozados.
Uso de "that" y "those" (lejos)
that → sustantivo singular
those → sustantivo plural
That girl looks like my sister.
Esa chica se parece a mi hermana.
Those tables are broken.
Esas mesas están rotas.
Demostrativos en el tiempo
Los demostrativos también pueden referirse al tiempo según cercanía temporal.
I don't seem to be able to concentrate these days.
No logro concentrarme estos días.
We had more time those days.

Funciones de los demostrativos
Pronombre demostrativo
Funcionan como pronombre demostrativo cuando sustituyen al sustantivo.

Determinante demostrativo
Funcionan como determinante demostrativo cuando acompañan a un sustantivo.
These shoes will not be suitable for tonight.
Estos zapatos no serán adecuados para esta noche.
Those happy days are long gone, dad.
Aquellos días felices ya pasaron.
Adverbios demostrativos
Los adverbios demostrativos principales son:
here → cerca
there → lejos
Put the hat here, please.
Pon el sombrero aquí, por favor.
Can't you see it's over there?

Demostrativos de tiempo como adverbios
now → presente
then → pasado
I said come here now.
Ven aquí ahora.
Back then, people were much at peace with themselves.
