過去単純形とは何ですか？
過去単純形は、過去に起こり完了した動作を表すために使用されます。規則動詞の場合は、基本形に「-ed」を追加して作られますが、不規則動詞には異なる形が存在します。
構造
過去単純形を作るには、動詞の過去形を使います。
規則動詞の過去形を作るには、動詞の基本形に「-ed」を追加します。例えば：
walk → walked (歩く → 歩いた)
play → played (遊ぶ → 遊んだ)
talk → talked (話す → 話した)
もし動詞が「-e」で終わる場合は、「-d」を追加するだけです。例えば：
love → loved (愛する → 愛した)
free → freed (自由になる → 自由になった)
bake → baked (焼く → 焼いた)
スペリング
1音節の規則動詞が母音 + 子音で終わる場合、過去形にする際には最後の子音を重ねてから「-ed」を追加します。例えば：
beg → begged (頼む → 頼んだ)
skip → skipped (跳ねる → 跳ねた)
不規則動詞
不規則動詞は上記のルールに従いません。これらの動詞は過去形が異なります。例えば：
go → went (行く → 行った)
bring → brought (持ってくる → 持ってきた)
know → knew (知っている → 知っていた)
run → ran (走る → 走った)
have → had (持っている → 持っていた)
do → did (する → した)
「Be」の過去形
「Be」という動詞は、英語の不規則動詞の一つで、過去形には2つの形があります：

否定文
過去単純形の否定文を作るには、動詞の基本形の前に「did not」または短縮形の「didn't」を追加します：
I ran. → I did not run. (I didn't run.)
私は走りました。→ 私は走りませんでした。
She walked.→ She did not walk. (She didn't walk.)
彼女は歩いた。→ 彼女は歩かなかった。
They talked. → They did not talk. (They didn't talk.)
彼らは話した。→ 彼らは話さなかった。
「Be」動詞の否定文を作るには、過去形（was/were）の後に「not」を追加します：
I was happy. → I was not happy. (I wasn't happy.)
私は幸せでした。 → 幸せではありませんでした。
They were waiters. → They were not waiters. (They weren't waiters.)
彼らはウェイターだった。 → 彼らはウェイターではなかった。
疑問文
過去単純形の疑問文を作るには、文の先頭に「did」を置き、動詞の過去形を基本形に戻します：
I ran. → Did I run?
走ったよ。→ 走ったかな？
She walked. → Did she walk?
彼女は歩いた。→ 歩いたのか？
「Be」動詞の過去単純形の疑問文を作るには、動詞を文の先頭に置き、主語をその後に続けます。例えば：
She was hungry. → Was she hungry?
彼女はお腹が空いていました。 → お腹が空いていたのでしょうか？
They were at the mall. → Were they at the mall?
彼らはショッピングモールにいました。 → 彼らはショッピングモールにいましたか？
用途
過去単純形は次のような場合に使います：
過去の完了した動作を話す時
I had dinner at around 8 in the evening last night.
私は昨晩8時頃に夕食を食べました。
Mary graduated from college in 2013.
メアリーは2013年に大学を卒業しました。
「-ed」の発音
「-ed」の語尾には3つの異なる発音があります：
/d/: 母音と有声音の後（/d/を除く）⇒ walked (歩いた)
/t/: 無声音の後（/t/を除く）⇒ pressed (押されました)
/ɪd/: /d/と/t/の後 ⇒ waited (待ちました)
