Noktalama Nedir?
Noktalama, cümlelerin ve ifadelerin anlamını daha net hale getirmek için yazıda kullanılan bir dizi sembol ve işareti ifade eder.
Noktalama İşaretleri
İngilizcede birçok farklı noktalama işareti vardır. Bunlardan bazıları şunlardır:
full stop (nokta) (.)
question mark (soru işareti) (?)
exclamation mark (unlem işareti) (!)
Şimdi her birinin nasıl işlediğini görelim:
Nokta
'Nokta' veya 'period' (.) bir cümlenin bittiğini gösteren bir işarettir. Gerçekleri ve genel doğruları belirten cümlelerin sonunda kullanırız. Aşağıdaki örneklere bakın:
The baby is asleep.
Bebek uyuyor.
There's a children's playground in the park.
Parkta çocuk oyun alanı var.
Soru İşareti
'Soru işareti' (?) konuşmacının bir soru sorduğunu ve cevabını öğrenmek istediğini gösterir. Aşağıya bakın:
Where are the kids?
Çocuklar nerede?
Do you like ice cream?
Dondurma sever misin?
Ünlem İşareti
'Ünlem işareti' (!) konuşmacının öfke, sürpriz, mutluluk gibi güçlü duygular ifade ettiğini gösterir. Aşağıdaki örneklere bakın:
Get out of the room now!
Hemen odadan çık!
The cat is dying!
