"Hair" vs. "Fur" in English

What Is Their Main Difference?

Both refer to the same thin strands that grow on humans and animals. However, we use 'fur' for animals, whereas, 'hair' is mainly used for animals.

Differences

Their main difference is their usage. We mainly use 'fur' to refer to animal hair. 'Hair', basically, is used for humans. Look at the examples below:

There are laws permitting the production of animal fur coats all around the globe nowadays.

As I mentioned above, we use both to indicate the thin strands that grow on all creatures bodies and heads of course. Look below:

Are They Interchangeable?

Although these words both have the same meaning, it is not really common to refer to a person's hair as 'fur'. So, try not to use them interchangeably. Compare:

As you can see, this one does not make sense.
