Revise vs. Edit
In this lesson, we've decided to tell you all there is about the differences and similarities between these two words. Are you ready? Well, let's go.
What Is Their Main Difference?
Both refer to making changes to certain texts in order to improve them. However, 'editing' is more concerned with correcting grammatical errors, and spelling mistakes, and basically deals with every word or sentence in the text, whereas, 'revision' is about adding/removing certain information to/from the text, deciding whether it depicts the message it is supposed to represent, etc.
Differences
As stated above, 'revision' refers to analyzing the text in order to add or remove certain parts from it. It analyzes whether the text conveys specific messages, meets certain criteria, etc. 'Editing', on the other hand, refers to inspecting the text in detail. We look for punctuation, grammatical and spelling errors.
Similarities
As stated above, when we have a text, we use both to improve it in all areas.
