"Sex" vs. "Gender" in English

What Is Their Main Difference?

Both are related to classifying people into different groups based on their differences, like being male or female. However, 'sex' is more used for biological differences like the reproductive organs, while, 'gender' is defined as the stereotypical attributes that come with one's sex. However, the LGBTQ+ movement has decentred many of these socially-contructed roles.

Differences

As stated above, 'sex' is recognized at birth and is based on biological differences. Look at the following examples:

'Gender', on the other hand, refers to the socially-constructed roles, attributes, behaviors, etc. that are associated with different genders. Check out the following examples:

Similarities

Both refer to the categorization of male, female, and other genders based on specific features. Look below:
