What Is Their Main Difference?

Both refer to brightness. However, 'light' is the standard version used in formal writing, while, 'lite' is a common informal spelling.

'Light' is the standard version, whereas, 'lite' is the informal spelling that is mostly used in everyday speech. Look at the examples below:

There's too much light in here.

If you stare at the blue lite for too long, you will go blind.

Both refer to brightness. Check out the following examples:

I'm not really interested in candle light dinners.

I saw a gleam of lite down in the tunnel.

We can use them interchangeably but not in formal writing. Compare:

✓ I saw a flash of lite in her eyes.
