Ex: She brought an umbrella because it was raining .

used to add a statement that contradicts what was just mentioned

Ex: The team worked hard ; however , they did n't achieve the expected results .

used to indicate an exception or exclusion from something or someone

Ex: I have finished all my chores apart from doing the laundry .
