in an upward or vertical position

Ex: The signpost was n't secured properly ; it fell upright after a strong gust of wind .

in the natural or original location

Ex: The historical documents were preserved in situ to maintain their authenticity .

inland [adverb]

into or toward the interior of a country or region

Ex: The national park is located inland , surrounded by mountains and forests .

offshore [adverb]

in the sea, but not too far from the coast

Ex: The sailors spotted a group of dolphins swimming offshore .

up in or into the air

Ex: The hot air balloon soared aloft , providing a breathtaking view of the landscape .

under the surface of the earth

Ex: The secret passage led underground , providing a hidden escape route .

to, in, or at any place

Ex: She would happily move anywhere for a new adventure .

in, at, or to some unspecified place
