¿Dónde se colocan los adjetivos?
Los 'adjetivos' son palabras que describen sustantivos. En Inglés, pueden colocarse antes de los sustantivos o después del verbo 'to be'.
Antes de los sustantivos
Como mencionamos antes, un adjetivo puede usarse antes del sustantivo que está describiendo. Mira los siguientes ejemplos:
A beautiful girl
Una chica hermosa
'Girl' es un sustantivo y 'beautiful' lo describe.
The wild cat
El gato salvaje
A fluffy sheep
Una oveja esponjosa
The kind witch
La bruja amable
A diferencia del español, en inglés los adjetivos generalmente van delante de los sustantivos que describen.
Ahora, observa su colocación en oraciones completas:
I can see a red circle.
Puedo ver un círculo rojo.
He is a sad boy.
Él es un niño triste.
Después del verbo 'be'
También podemos colocar adjetivos después de los verbos 'to be'. Observa los siguientes ejemplos:
The dog is black.
El perro es negro.
The panda is sleepy.
El panda está dormido.
I am angry.
Estoy enojado.
That old woman is kind.
Esa mujer anciana es amable.
Aquí, 'old' es un adjetivo antes del sustantivo y 'kind' es un adjetivo después del verbo 'to be'.
Número de adjetivos
Podemos tener dos o más adjetivos antes del sustantivo que queremos describir. Mira los siguientes ejemplos:
I ate a big, delicious, creamy birthday cake yesterday.
Ayer comí un pastel de cumpleaños grande, delicioso y cremoso.
