ضمیایر ملکی کلماتی هستند که جایگزین اسم‌ها می‌شوند و مالکیت را نشان می‌دهند. به عبارت دیگر، نشان می‌دهند که چیزی متعلق به کسی است.

چه زمانی از ضمایر ملکی استفاده می‌شود?
ضمیر ملکی به جای عبارت اسمی استفاده می‌شود تا از تکرار آن در جمله جلوگیری شود. به مثال‌‌ها توجه کنید:
Don't touch that phone. It's not yours! → It's not your phone!
به آن تلفن دست نزن. مال تو نیست! ← تلفن تو نیست!
That phone was mine. → That phone was my phone.
آن تلفن مال من بود. ← آن تلفن، تلفن من بود.
The house on the corner is theirs. → The house on the corner is their house.
