What Is Their Main Difference?
Basically, they both refer to where something/someone is. However, 'location' is more about the structure of the place, its address, its number, etc. whereas, 'place' is mainly concerned with how the place looks like.

As mentioned above, when we use 'location', we mainly talk about the structure of a particular place we are referring to. When we want to give someone the address to a place, we are providing her with the location. Look at the examples below:
