Valentine's day vs. Valentines day
What Is Their Main Difference?
Both refer to the 14th of February when we show our love to the ones we care about. However, since there was a Saint Valentine, we'd better use the possessive 's' to show that it is his day. Some people argue that Valentines day is also correct. 'Valentine's day' with the possessive 's' is the standard form, though.
Differences
Some argue that we must not use the possessive 's' because Valentine's day can refer to both the person we love and Valentine's day card. So, it has to be plural. However, the standard form of it is still with the possessive 's'. Look at the following examples:

Valentines day is not necessarily for couples.

Most people use them interchangeably because they are essentially one and the same. Compare:
