What Is Their Main Difference?

As an old fashioned Englishman, I would use 'spoilt' in your examples above. However, I would use 'spoiled' for a softer nuance when say something like, "Thank you for a wonderful supper, you spoiled us with such wonderful wine . . ."

I am Canadian and would use the word “spoiled” in both cases. I do not used the word spoilt. I was in elementary school in the early 1950’s, then high school.
