The main difference between 'as if' and 'though' is that they convey different meanings.
As if
'As if' is a conjunction. It is classified as a subordinating conjunction. It is used to express:
as would be the case if:
He felt as if his heart has stopped working.
as one would do if:
He was running as if zombies were chasing him.
that:
It seemed as if the case was never going to get solved.
Though
'Though' is also a conjunction. It is classified as a subordinating conjunction. It is used to express:
despite the fact that:
Though he hadn't called, he said he would.
but:
They're helping though I don't know where.
Are They Interchangeable?
While 'as if' and 'though' are both subordinating conjunctions they cannot be used interchangeably as the meaning of the sentence would completely change.
