"Especially" vs. "Specially" in English

What Is Their Main Difference?

Both words are used to refer to something treated in a 'particular manner'. However, 'especially' can be used to emphasize the extreme quality of something.

Differences

Their main difference is that we can use 'especially' to emphasize something really good, really delicious, etc. Generally speaking, it can be used to emphasize something boldly. Check out the following examples:

This chocolate cake is especially tasty.

The blue team is especially the terrible one.

'Specially' however, is used when we want to show that something is treated in a particular manner. Let us look at the examples below:

Why does the manager treats some specially?

We reserve out VIP seats for guests like you, specially.

Similarities

Both are used to refer to someone/something being treated in a particular way. Take a look at the following examples:

These uniforms have been specially made for employees.

Are They Interchangeable?

When we are indicating that something is treated in a particular way, we can use them interchangeably. However, note that when we use 'especially' to emphasize the quality of something, we cannot use them interchangeably. Compare:
