What Is Their Main Difference?
Both are adverbs of frequency that show how frequently an action takes place. However, 'usually' indicates doing something on a regular basis. So, it becomes a habit, but 'often' implies an action that happens frequently but it is not on a regular basis. In other words, it is not part of our routine.

When we use 'usually', we indicate that we do something on a regular basis. It has become a habit. Look at the examples below:

'Often', on the other hand, indicates doing something frequently but is unpredictable. Note tat we do not use 'often' for our habits. Check out the following examples:

Are They Interchangeable?
