What Is Their Main Difference?

The main difference between 'unless' and 'until' is that 'unless' talks about a condition while 'until' talks about time.

Unless

'Unless' is used to introduce conditions. It is used in conditional sentences. We use 'unless' to say that something will or not happen except if a certain condition is fulfilled.

People won't leave her alone unless she resigns.

We won't come back to work unless they respect our work.

Until

'Until' is used to show that something happens up to a certain time. In other words, we are setting deadlines by this word.

I was hoping you would be here until tomorrow morning.

You have until next week to turn in your assignment.

In One Sentence

We can use 'unless' and 'until' in one sentence to express more information. Watch:

You won't be able to go out unless you finish your assignment until 6 p.m.

The company will shut down until seventh of July unless they find a new investor.

Are They Interchangeable?

No. You cannot use 'unless' and 'until' interchangeably as the meaning of the sentence.
