Apa Itu Kontraksi?
Kontraksi adalah bentuk singkat dari kata-kata, di mana dua kata digabungkan dan beberapa huruf dihapus.

Kata Kerja 'Be' yang Dikurangi
Berbagai bentuk kata kerja 'be', termasuk 'am', 'is', dan 'are', dapat dikontraksikan. Contohnya:

Kata Kerja Negatif Bantu dan Modal
'Not' digunakan untuk membuat kata kerja menjadi negatif. Untuk menggunakan bentuk kontraksi dari kata kerja negatif, huruf 'o' dihapus dan apostrof digunakan sebagai gantinya. Ini dapat dilakukan dengan kata kerja modal dan auxiliary.

Peringatan!
Untuk menggunakan bentuk kontraksi dari 'I am not', hanya kata kerja 'to be' yang dapat dikontraksikan, bukan pembuat negatif. Jadi bentuk kontraksinya adalah 'I'm not' bukan 'I amn't'.
Kata kerja modal juga dibuat negatif dengan menggunakan 'not'. Seperti auxiliary, mereka dapat dikontraksikan dengan menghapus huruf 'o' dari 'not'. Contohnya:
She shouldn't go. → She should not go.
Dia seharusnya tidak pergi.
