সংকোচন কী?
সংকোচন হল শব্দের সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ, যেখানে দুটি শব্দকে একত্রিত করা হয় এবং কিছু অক্ষর বাদ দেওয়া হয়।
সংকোচন কীভাবে তৈরি করা হয়?
সংকোচন তৈরি করার জন্য, অপসারিত অক্ষরের স্থানে একটি একক অ্যাপসট্রফি ব্যবহার করা হয়।

সংকোচন কখন ব্যবহার করা হয়?
বিভিন্ন প্রসঙ্গে সংকোচন ব্যবহার করা হয়। এখানে কিছু প্রধান প্রসঙ্গ উল্লেখ করা হলো:
সংকোচিত 'Be' ক্রিয়াপদ
'Be' ক্রিয়াপদের বিভিন্ন রূপ, যেমন 'am', 'is', এবং 'are' সংকুচিত করা যায়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ:
She’s coming. → She is coming.
সে আসছে।
We’re talking → We are talking.

নেতিবাচক সহায়ক এবং মডেল ক্রিয়া
'Not' ব্যবহার করা হয় ক্রিয়াপদকে নেতিবাচক করতে। নেতিবাচক ক্রিয়াপদের সংকোচিত রূপ ব্যবহার করতে, 'o' অক্ষরটি অপসারণ করা হয় এবং তার স্থানে অ্যাপসট্রফি ব্যবহার করা হয়। এটি মোডাল এবং সহায়ক উভয় ক্রিয়াপদের ক্ষেত্রেই করা যায়।

সতর্কতা!
'I am not' এর সংকোচিত রূপ ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে, শুধুমাত্র 'to be' ক্রিয়াপদ সংকুচিত করা যাবে, নেতিবাচক নির্দেশক নয়। তাই সংকোচিত রূপ হবে 'I'm not', 'I amn't' নয়।
মোডাল ক্রিয়াপদগুলোকেও 'not' ব্যবহার করে নেতিবাচক করা হয়। Auxiliary এর মতো, এগুলিও সংকুচিত করা যায় 'not' থেকে 'o' অপসারণ করে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ:
She shouldn't go. → She should not go.
তার যাওয়া উচিত নয়।
He can’t sing. → He cannot sing.
