Our is impersonal. That means something can belong to anyone; for example:
Doing exercise is beneficial for our health.
'Our health' means 'everyone's health.'
Let's be proud of our life.
Our is used to refer to kings, queens, judges, etc. For example:
Our Highness, please consider a plan.
Our Majesty, I am at your service.
Our is used to refer to a member of the family. In this case, names should be mentioned. For example:
Our Roxy speaks three languages.
'Roxy' is a member of the family, maybe their daughter.
Position in a Sentence
Our as a possessive determiner always comes before a noun or a noun phrase. For example:
Our winning the game felt awesome.
'Winning the game' is a gerund and a noun phrase.
Tip
Articles like 'a', 'an' and, 'the' or other determiners cannot be used before 'our.' Take a look at the following example:
This is our green book. ✔ This is the our green book.
