فعل Do چیست؟
فعل 'Do' می‌تواند بسته به زمان و فاعل، اشکال مختلفی داشته باشد.
اشکال مختلف Do
فعل Do در زمان حال ساده بسته به فاعل دو شکل متفاوت دارد:

به کاربرد این فعل در جملات زیر دقت کنید:
I do my homework.
من تکالیفم را انجام می‌دهم
She does her chores.
او کارهای روزمره‌اش را انجام می‌دهد.
We do our exercises in the morning.
ما تمریناتمان را صبح‌ها انجام می‌دهیم.
فعل Do در زمان گذشته‌ی ساده برای تمام فاعل‌ها یک شکل ثابت دارد:

جملات سوالی با Do
برای سوالی کردن جملات در زمان حال، 'do' به عنوان فعل کمکی استفاده می‌شود. برای سوالی کردن جمله، 'do' یا 'does' در ابتدای جمله قرار می‌گیرد و سپس فاعل و ریشه‌ی فعل اصلی به ترتیب بعد از آن می‌آیند.
Do you play soccer?
فوتبال بازی می‌کنی؟
Does she like music?
او موسیقی دوست دارد؟
برای سوالی کردن جملات در زمان گذشته، 'did' در ابتدای جمله قرار می‌گیرد و مانند زمان حال، فاعل و ریشه‌ی فعل اصلی به ترتیب بعد از آن می‌آیند. به عنوان مثال:
Did you see the movie?
آن فیلم را دیدی؟
Did they arrive on time?
آنها به‌موقع رسیدند؟
جملات منفی با Do
برای ساخت جملات منفی با اشکال مختلف افعال کمکی "Do"، کافیست"not" را به انتهای آنها اضافه کنید. همه‌ی اشکال "do" می‌توانند در جملات منفی کوتاه شوند.
به جملات زیر نگاه کنید:
I do not like coffee./I don't like coffee.
من قهوه دوست ندارم
He does not watch TV./He doesn't watch TV.
او تلویزیون تماشا نمی‌کند
I did not go to the party./I didn't go to the party.
