What is the verb 'Do'?

Different Forms of 'Do'
In the present tense, 'do' has two forms based on the subject:

To form questions in the past tense, 'did' comes at the beginning of the sentence and the subject and the base form of the main verb follow it. For example
Did you see the movie?

Negation
To make negative sentences with the different forms of auxiliary verb 'do', just add 'not' after them. All forms of 'do' can be contracted in the negative use. Here are some examples:
I do not like coffee./I don't like coffee.
He does not watch TV./He doesn't watch TV.
I did not go to the party./I didn't go to the party.
We didn't like the food in the new restaurant.
