På engelska kan verbet "do" anta olika former beroende på tid och subjekt.
Olika former av "do"
I nutid har "do" två former beroende på subjektet:

För att bilda frågor i nutid används "do" som ett hjälpverb. För att bilda frågor, placeras "do" eller "does" i början av meningen, och subjektet samt huvudverbets grundform följer efter det.

För att bilda frågor i dåtid, placeras "did" i början av meningen och subjektet samt huvudverbets grundform följer efter det. Till exempel:

Negation
För att göra negativa meningar med de olika formerna av hjälpverbet "do", lägg bara till "not" efter dem. Alla former av "do" kan förkortas i negativa meningar. Här är några exempel:
I do not like coffee. /I don't like coffee.
Jag gillar inte kaffe.
He does not watch TV. / He doesn't watch TV.
Han tittar inte på TV.
I did not go to the party. / I didn't go to the party.
