'In' زمانی استفاده می‌شود که بخواهیم نشان دهیم چیزی درون یک مکان یا ظرف است. برای مثال:
We were in the hospital.
ما در بیمارستان بودیم.
She stayed in my room.
او در اتاق من ماند.
On
'On' برای نشان دادن اینکه چیزی روی یک سطح قرار دارد استفاده می‌شود. به مثال‌های زیر نگاه کنید:
There was a stick on the surface of water.
یک تکه چوب روی سطح آب بود.
The books are on the table.
کتاب‌ها روی میز هستند.
Under
'Under' به معنای زیر یا در سطح پایین‌تری نسبت به چیزی است. برای مثال:

Around
حرف اضافه‌ی 'around' برای اشاره به اطراف چیزی یا کسی استفاده می‌شود. برای مثال:
We were sitting around the dinner table.
ما دور میز شام نشسته بودیم.
There was a beautiful scarf around her neck.
یک شال زیبا دور گردن او بود.
In Front of
'In front of زمانی استفاده می‌شود که چیزی یا کسی روبروی دیگری باشد. به مثال‌های زیر نگاه کنید:
The car is parked in front of the pharmacy.
ماشین روبروی داروخانه پارک شده است.
I was just in front of you.
من درست روبروی تو بودم.
Behind
'Behind' زمانی استفاده می شود که چیزی در پشت چیزی دیگر قرار گرفته باشد. برای مثال:
The cat was behind the table.
گربه پشت میز بود.
They sat behind the door.
آنها پشت در نشستند.
At
حرف اضافه‌ی 'at' برای نشان دادن مکان دقیق چیزی یا کسی استفاده می‌شود. به مثال‌ها نگاه کنید:
