Cos'è la Negazione?
La negazione consiste nel rendere una frase negativa per mostrare che qualcosa non è vero o non accade.
Due Parole Negative
Due parole sono comunemente usate in inglese per rendere una frase negativa:
No
Not
No
'No' è usato come risposta negativa a una domanda sì/no.
- 'Is there any cake left for me?' + 'No! Sorry!'
- 'È rimasta qualche torta per me?' + 'No! Scusa!'
Può anche precedere un sostantivo per rendere una frase negativa e per mostrare negazione.
We have no time to celebrate.
Non abbiamo nessun tempo per festeggiare.

Not
'Not' è la parola più comune usata con i verbi per mostrare negazione. Per esempio:
I am not a student.
Non sono uno studente.
La forma abbreviata di 'not' è 'n’t' e spesso viene dopo verbi ausiliari o verbi modali per rendere la frase negativa.
