Ontkenning in het Engels houdt in dat een zin negatief wordt gemaakt om te laten zien dat iets niet waar is of niet gebeurt.
Twee Negatieve Woorden
Twee woorden worden vaak gebruikt in het Engels om een zin negatief te maken:
No (nee, geen)
Not (niet)

'No' wordt gebruikt als een negatief antwoord op een ja/nee vraag.

Het kan ook voor een zelfstandig naamwoord worden geplaatst om een negatieve zin te maken en ontkenning te tonen.

Not
'Not' is het meest voorkomende woord dat met werkwoorden wordt gebruikt om ontkenning te tonen. Bijvoorbeeld:
