How to Ask About Dates?

When we want to ask about the date, we can use the following questions. The answers to these questions start with “It is…”.

What day is it? It is December 24th.

Ordinal Numbers

How to Write the Dates

Now, when we want to say the date, we must start with the first number which is the day. Then, we move on to the month, and then the year:

5/9/2025 → the fifth of November

1/3/1998 → the first of March

3/12/2007 → the third of December

Prepositions

When we want to talk about dates, we have to use different prepositions. We use 'in' when talking about the year and the month*, and 'on' when talking about the day. Look:

I'm going to Italy in June.

I may visit her on Sunday.

They were in France in 1998.

Warning!

Note that the names of days and months are proper nouns and their first letter is always in uppercase.
