Qu'est-ce que les conjonctions de coordination ?

Les conjonctions de coordination sont des mots qui relient des mots, des phrases ou des propositions qui ont une importance égale dans une phrase.

Principales conjonctions de coordination

L'anglais a trois principales conjonctions de coordination :

and (et)

or (ou)

but (mais)

And

« And » est utilisé pour ajouter un mot à un autre mot. Par exemple :

Exemple

She is beautiful. She is kind. = She is beautiful and kind.

Elle est belle. Elle est gentille. = Elle est belle et gentille.

I called Hanna. I called Tommy = I called Hanna and Tommy.

J'ai appelé Hanna. J'ai appelé Tommy = J'ai appelé Hanna et Tommy.

Or

« Or » est utilisé pour nommer deux choix ou plus. Par exemple :

Exemple

Are you sad? Are you angry? = Are you sad or angry?

Es-tu triste ? Es-tu en colère ? = Es-tu triste ou en colère ?

Do you like pizza? Do you like pasta = Do you like pizza or pasta?

Aimes-tu la pizza ? Aimes-tu les pâtes ? = Aimes-tu la pizza ou les pâtes ?

But

« But » est utilisé pour montrer le contraste entre deux mots ou phrases. Par exemple :

Exemple

She is beautiful but cruel.

Elle est belle mais cruelle.

I love fruits but I’m allergic to strawberries.

J'aime les fruits mais je suis allergique aux fraises.
